About Jennilyn
yoga | prenatal yoga & birth doula services| womens holistic health
Jennilyn Carson is a 500hr+ trained yoga teacher and has been a student of yoga for over 10 years. She first discovered the practice through 15 years of dedication to dance and acrobatics, finding yoga to be a tremendous complement to stretching and strengthening core muscles, as well as providing the tools for a balanced body and mind. She is continually inspired and fascinated by the beauty and rhythm of body movement combined with the strength and grace in the flow of breath.
In sharing the practice through teaching, Jennilyn draws from the heated flow of Ashtanga and vinyasa, and the attention to alignment and healing through the principles of Iyengar yoga to build her fun and energetic classes. Jennilyn teaches with the full body in mind and believes that the connection of breath and expressive movement is an exceptional means to finding clarity and transformation inside and out. She believes yoga is for everyone.
Jennilyn also teaches prenatal yoga and is a DONA trained birth doula. She is passionate about working with women and young girls through the full range of female cycles in support of whole and holistic wellness. Jennilyn has had further training in yoga for at-risk youth (Street Yoga), yoga for eating disorders and PTSD (Sprout Yoga), anatomy with Jill Miller creator of Yoga Tune Up and restorative yoga with Jillian Pransky.
When not teaching yoga, Jennilyn can be found writing, volunteering as a ballet assistant at 92nd St Y, sipping soup or strolling the streets of her favorite city listening to her favorite tunes. She has a weak spot for pickles.
Jennilyn is consistently inspired by her primary teachers Paula Lynch, Marco Rojas and Tzahi Moskovitz, and greatly influenced by the important work of senior Iyengar teacher Bobby Clennell.
